– Spartans swimmers shoot for sectionals (February 9, 2016)
This season began with a first for New Hartford boys swimming coach Mark McFarland, with 17 new members coming out for the team. The Spartans are hoping it ends with something a little more familiar.

– Mount Markham volleyball finishes off successful week (January 23, 2016)
The Mount Markham girls volleyball team began a three-match, three-day stretch with a pair of wins, sweeping Sauquoit Valley and Westmoreland on Wednesday and Thursday. The Mustangs would have a little more trouble with Cooperstown on Friday.

I’ll admit, until my time at the Observer-Dispatch, I had never even heard of the Boilermaker Road Race. But now that I have experienced my first one, I hope that it will not be my last.

Jean O’Toole ran her first Boilermaker in 1996. Though she isn’t running this year – she will watch from the finish line instead – O’Toole, 47, from New Hartford, will be involved in the big race in several different ways. She simply enjoys the race.
